Abstract

Researchers from Kashan University of Medical Sciences conducted a study on the growth response to magnesium supplementation in pregnant women at risk of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) in Iran. The double-blind randomized clinical trial involved 70 women, with one group receiving magnesium supplements and the other receiving a placebo for 14 weeks. The study found that magnesium supplementation positively influenced metabolic profiles and intrauterine growth in pregnant women at risk of IUGR, leading to improvements in insulin function parameters and reductions in oxidative stress markers. The findings suggest that magnesium supplementation may have beneficial effects on pregnant women at risk of IUGR. [Extracted from the article]
