Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University Hospital Zurich in Switzerland focused on primary hyperparathyroidism and the use of imaging modalities for localization diagnostics in parathyroid adenomas. The study found that 18F-choline-PET exhibited high sensitivity in detecting adenomas among patients with negative or equivocal SPECT results. Factors such as lower PTH levels, presence of structural thyroid disease, and negative sonography were predictive of negative/equivocal SPECT outcomes. The research highlights the clinical significance of 18F-choline-PET, especially in cases with discordant results from traditional imaging methods. [Extracted from the article]
