Abstract

The article offers advice for engineers on inspection, intervention and monitoring of ruined structures in Great Britain. Topics include the importance of having knowledge about how to protect and stabilize a ruined structure, the need for a balanced inspection and maintenance approach, advice on maintaining slender chimney structures, and the method of failure of a freestanding brickwork wall.
