Abstract

The article discusses the historical background and resurgence of the direct anterior approach in total hip arthroplasty (THA). It evaluates the outcomes of this approach compared to conventional methods, highlighting conflicting results from various studies. The study conducted a systematic evaluation of meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to provide an overview of the benefits and limitations of the direct anterior approach. The findings suggest that while the direct anterior approach may offer short-term functional improvements and reduced pain, it also poses risks such as longer operative time and potential complications. The study emphasizes the need for more informed discussions between patients and healthcare professionals regarding the choice of surgical approach in THA. [Extracted from the article]
