Abstract

The article discusses a study comparing the accuracy of various artificial intelligence smartphone applications for skin cancer risk stratification of pigmented lesions. The study found that there was variable agreement between the apps, with different apps providing different risk classifications for the same lesions. The study highlights the importance of guiding consumers on selecting apps with research evidence and cautioning against relying solely on AI diagnostic apps for skin advice. The research was conducted in 2023 and was supported by an NHMRC grant, with ethical approval from the University of Queensland's Human Research Ethics Committee. [Extracted from the article]
