Abstract

Researchers from Ohio State University conducted a study on the risks associated with withdrawing valproate, a drug used to treat epilepsy, in men and women under 55 years old. The study found that withdrawal from valproate was linked to increased risks of emergency department visits, hospital admissions, falls, injuries, burns, and new-onset depression, but not mortality. These findings aim to provide patients and clinicians with more information to consider when discussing valproate withdrawal. [Extracted from the article]
