Abstract

The article recounts the heroic actions of Lieutenant Michael P Murphy, a Navy SEAL who led a reconnaissance team in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings in 2005. Despite being outnumbered and under intense enemy fire, Murphy made a distress call that ultimately saved his team. The operation resulted in the highest death toll for Naval Special Warfare since World War II, and Murphy posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his bravery. The events of Operation Red Wings have been recounted in the book "Lone Survivor" and subsequent film, though details have been disputed by some involved. [Extracted from the article]
