Abstract
- Researchers at Baylor University College of Medicine conducted a study on food insecurity in a diverse community pediatric gastroenterology clinic in Houston, Texas. They found that 13.4% of patients screened positive for food insecurity, with Hispanic patients, those who preferred Spanish, and those enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP more likely to be affected. The study highlighted the need for proactive screening and patient-centered approaches in addressing food insecurity in pediatric gastrointestinal conditions. The research was published in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and can be accessed online for further information. [Extracted from the article]
