Abstract
- The article discusses the role of a small RNA, InvR, in regulating the expression of the Salmonella Pathogenicity Island 1 (SPI1) in Salmonella bacteria. The study found that InvR acts as a negative feedback regulator of SPI1 expression by inhibiting the translation of the hilA mRNA, which is essential for the activation of SPI1 genes. This research sheds light on the complex regulatory mechanisms controlling SPI1 and Salmonella virulence, emphasizing the importance of fine-tuning gene expression to prevent overactivation.
