Abstract

The article discusses the concept of flipping a science course to promote equity and inclusion. The author flipped a mid-level majors and pre-medical course, BIOL151: Biological Chemistry, in Spring 2020 to increase student engagement and understanding. The flipped format allowed for the adoption of inclusive pedagogy strategies and provided opportunities for diverse student populations to succeed. The author emphasizes transparency with students, interventions to support students with varying levels of prior knowledge, and the importance of engaging students' strengths and affective domain goals in the flipped course.
