Abstract

Objective: This study examines the role of psychological capital and adherence to religious beliefs in predicting perceived stress among students at Islamic Azad University, Kashan Branch. Method: This research employed a correlational design with a regression model. The statistical population included all students enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs at Islamic Azad University, Kashan Branch (4100 students) during the 2022-2023 academic year. A multi-stage cluster sampling method was used to select a sample of 300 students. The research instruments included the Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen et al., 1983), the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (Luthans, 2007), and the Adherence to Religious Beliefs Questionnaire (Temple) (Golzari, 2000). Data were analyzed using correlation and regression methods in SPSS-26 software. Results: The findings indicated that perceived stress can be predicted through psychological capital and adherence to religious beliefs. Psychological capital and adherence to religious beliefs together predicted 58% of the variance in perceived stress (P <0.05). The results suggest that perceived stress can be significantly predicted based on psychological capital. Additionally, perceived stress can be significantly predicted based on adherence to religious beliefs. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that psychological capital and adherence to religious beliefs play a significant role in perceived stress among students. High psychological capital and strengthened religious beliefs lead to reduced stress. Therefore, it is recommended that educational programs and plans should be implemented to manage stress among students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
