Abstract

The article delves into the impact of surface textures on turbulent flow, particularly examining slip/no-slip textures. It highlights that slip boundary conditions can accurately represent small textures' effects on flow, but deviations from smooth-wall behavior emerge as texture size increases. The study introduces an amplitude-modulated forcing model to predict turbulence over superhydrophobic surfaces, showing good agreement with simulations up to a certain texture size. The research also explores the influence of Reynolds number on results and provides a list of related articles on fluid mechanics topics like drag reduction and turbulent flow near walls, aiming to enhance understanding of turbulence dynamics and fluid flow in various conditions.
