Abstract

A study conducted at Saitama Children's Medical Center in Japan focused on the diagnostic performance of ultrasound in pediatric patients with suspected myositis and fasciitis, including necrotizing fasciitis. The research found that ultrasound was reliable in detecting abnormal findings and was useful for diagnosing necrotizing fasciitis, which could aid in urgent surgical intervention. The study compared sonographic findings between patients with and without necrotizing fasciitis, highlighting significant differences in peripheral deep fascial edema, width of fluid accumulation, and vascular lumen collapse between the two groups.
