Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Mississippi Medical Center explored the role of renal medullary bilirubin and biliverdin reductase in Angiotensin II-dependent hypertension. The research found that increased circulating bilirubin can attenuate Angiotensin II-induced hypertension and improve renal hemodynamics. The study suggests that mechanisms enhancing bilirubin and biliverdin reductase in the renal medulla could be a promising approach to treating hypertension. [Extracted from the article]
