Abstract

This paper proposes an asymmetric inset-fed mesh antenna with optical transparency using a mesh structure. It was investigated for its effects on the antenna characteristics by varying the length and width of the patch as well as the width and number of the lines in the mesh structure. Based on the results, a mesh antenna operating in the S-band at 2.4 GHz was designed using an FR-4 dielectric substrate with a thickness of 1 mm and a dielectric constant of 4.3. Two types of antennas with transparency levels of 76% and 85% were fabricated, and the return loss, axial ratio, gain and radiation pattern characteristics of the antennas were measured, and the results were very similar to the simulation results. It is expected that the antenna proposed in this paper, which combines circular polarization and optical properties, could be utilized in Micro-satellite applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
