Current Status and Future Directions of Korea's Veterans Diplomacy toward Colombia.

This article explores the evolving landscape of veterans' diplomacy in South Korea, particularly in the context of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Armistice Agreement of the Korean War in 2023. Reflecting on the sacrifices of 1,957,733 veterans from twenty-two participating countries, including Colombia, the study emphasizes the historical significance of veterans' diplomacy as a diplomatic asset. Focusing on South Korea's initiatives in Colombia, the only Latin American country actively involved in the Korean War, the research seeks to identify future-oriented directions for veterans' diplomacy. The article also highlights the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' enhanced diplomatic role and commitment to engaging in veterans' diplomacy on a global scale. It addresses challenges such as overlapping benefits and limited beneficiaries, proposing systematic registration and documentation for effective policy implementation. Emphasizing cultural sensitivity, the study advocates tailored veterans' diplomacy projects for each nation, educational programs for global youth, and collaboration between government and private organizations to expand the scope of veterans' diplomacy beyond governmental levels.
