Abstract
- Researchers at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, have identified potent Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) strains effective against Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae, which transmit diseases like dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. The study evaluated 13 Bt strains, with strains 1644, 1608A, and 1656 showing high larvicidal activity. These findings suggest the potential of these Bt strains as biocontrol agents against Aedes aegypti larvae, offering a safe and sustainable method to reduce mosquito populations. The research was supported by various organizations, including the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation. [Extracted from the article]
