Abstract

Researchers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine conducted a study on the associations between choline metabolites and incident heart failure (HF) in 245,072 participants from the UK Biobank. The study found that total choline and phosphatidylcholine were positively associated with HF risk, while glycine showed an inverse association. High polygenic risk score and high choline metabolites increased HF risk, while low polygenic risk score and high glycine reduced risk. The study suggests that targeting the choline metabolic pathway may be a potential strategy for improving heart health, but further validation is needed. [Extracted from the article]
