Abstract
- A study conducted at Taichung Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan examined the association between metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and carotid atherosclerosis. The research found that MAFLD patients had a higher prevalence of carotid atherosclerosis compared to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. This suggests that MAFLD may be a significant risk factor for cardiovascular complications. The study involved a retrospective cohort design with 11,194 participants and was published in Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases. [Extracted from the article]
