Abstract

Researchers from Istanbul University conducted a study on the effectiveness of cefiderocol, a new antibiotic, against Achromobacter spp. and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia isolates in vitro, both alone and in combination with other antibiotics. The research found that cefiderocol displayed potent activity against S. maltophilia and Achromobacter spp., with the highest susceptibility rate and lowest MIC values. The study suggests that cefiderocol, along with levofloxacin and colistin, could be used as an alternative treatment for infections caused by these pathogens, highlighting the need for further investigations into cefiderocol's role in treating these infections.
