Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Istanbul University focused on the epidemiological characteristics of influenza virus infections in pediatric patients during the 2023-2024 fall-winter season. The study aimed to identify risk factors for hospitalization and mortality, assess vaccination rates, and evaluate outcomes. The research highlighted the importance of vaccination in preventing influenza-related morbidity and mortality, emphasizing the need for increased vaccination efforts in children. The study included 72 pediatric patients, with none having received influenza vaccination, and found that lack of vaccination was a significant risk factor for disease in children.
