Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from Baqai Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan, focused on soft-tissue augmentation procedures to increase the width of keratinized mucosa around dental implants with compromised soft-tissue status. The review included 27 studies and found that interventions such as apically positioned partial-thickness flaps and vestibuloplasty using xenogeneic collagen matrix or free gingival graft showed promising results in augmenting keratinized mucosa. The study highlighted the need for further randomized controlled trials with extended follow-up to refine treatment approaches and improve outcomes in this area of periodontology.
