Abstract

Researchers from Universidade Federal do Maranhao conducted a study on children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis to analyze biochemical changes related to mineral and bone disorders. The study found variations in calcium levels, hyperphosphatemia, and high levels of PTH, posing challenges for treatment. Adequate levels of vitamin D were identified, and the research highlighted the importance of monitoring these biochemical parameters in pediatric patients undergoing hemodialysis.
