Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Columbia University focused on the prevalence and predictors of follow-up endoscopic biopsy in patients with celiac disease in the United States. The study found that approximately 19.4% of patients with celiac disease underwent a follow-up biopsy, with adult age and increased comorbidity burden being associated with a greater likelihood of follow-up biopsy. The research concluded that just under half of follow-up biopsies are performed for routine surveillance, even in the absence of persistent symptoms. [Extracted from the article]
