Abstract
- Researchers at University Hospital de Vic in Catalonia, Spain, conducted a study on Staphylococcus caprae infections, a coagulase-negative staphylococcus commonly associated with animals and potentially zoonotic. The study analyzed 31 cases of S. caprae infections diagnosed between 2010 and 2023, with most cases occurring in the latter half of the study period. The infections primarily manifested as skin and soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis, and joint prosthetic infections, with a low mortality rate. The research highlights the need for ongoing surveillance to understand the prevalence and transmission dynamics of this emerging zoonotic pathogen. [Extracted from the article]
