Abstract
- Researchers from the Department of Digestive Tract Diseases in Lodz, Poland, conducted a study to evaluate the frequency of HLA-DQ2/DQ8 genes among patients with celiac disease and those on a gluten-free diet. The study included 50 patients with celiac disease and 31 healthy volunteers as a control group. Results showed that certain genetic markers were significantly more prevalent in patients with celiac disease, suggesting the importance of genetic criteria in diagnosing the condition. The research highlights the need to verify previous diagnoses of celiac disease based on genetic criteria, especially for patients diagnosed before 2010. [Extracted from the article]
