Abstract
- The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant program was established in 2007 to support students pursuing teaching certifications, particularly in low-income schools. Recipients can receive up to $4,000 annually, but must fulfill teaching service obligations or risk their grants being converted into loans. Over 400,000 grants totaling $1.3 billion have been disbursed since the program's inception, with ongoing discussions about potential changes to address program challenges and improve effectiveness. Recent adjustments have shifted some administrative responsibilities to recipients, allowing for more direct management of participation in TEACH Grants through StudentAid.gov.
