Abstract

Researchers at the University of Coruna have reported new findings on the Hakai protein, identifying it as an E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in the degradation of E-cadherin complex, leading to epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. Recent research has also highlighted Hakai's noncanonical role in the N-6-methyladenosine writer complex, impacting RNA methylation and its potential as a cancer biomarker. The development of a small-molecule inhibitor targeting Hakai's atypical substrate binding domain shows promise for potential clinical applications. [Extracted from the article]
