Abstract

University of Calabar researchers conducted a study to assess the diagnostic accuracy of radiological and histological findings in diagnosing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease stages among patients. The study included 109 participants, with ultrasound showing a sensitivity of 90.4% and a specificity of 72.5%. The research concluded that ultrasound findings were significant in detecting advanced stages of fatty liver, potentially reducing the need for invasive procedures like liver biopsy in the future.
