Abstract

Expressions have been developed to characterize the polarization and frequency dependencies of composite matrix elements associated with one-, two-, and three-photon optical transitions in monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides. These transitions are driven by vertical movements between the conduction and valence bands. The analysis utilizes a two-band approximation that accounts for the spin states of charge carriers. This study explores the distinctions among one-, two-, and three-photon interband optical transitions, focusing on the various types of intermediate states that can arise within both the valence and conduction band subbands.
