Abstract

The article discusses transoesophageal echocardiography showing a thrombosis of the aortic valve mechanical replacement before and after thrombolytic treatment. The technique is illustrated through the case of a 75 year old female patient with a four year history of aortic valve replacement with mechanical prosthesis, and a one month history of progressing dyspnoea and coughing episodes. The patient denied having chest pain. Electrocardiography showed signs of hypertrophy and overload of the left ventricle.
