Abstract

The article reports on the candidates of the 1988 elections. George Bush and Michael Dukakis started their presidential campaign on Labor day as it kicked off. In a "Business Week" poll, results showed that Bush is leading with 50 percent compared to the 44 percent of Dukakis. Bush promises a kinder and gentler national while Dukakis is working on giving economic nationalism a new prominence. INSET: MEET THE MASTERS OF MUD IN A DOWN-AND-DIRTY CAMPAIGN.
