Abstract

The article reports on the actions of the U.S. federal government to remedy the economic situation in the nation after the October 1987 stock market crash. President Ronald Reagan and congressional leaders are studying ways to reduce the budget deficit. The Federal Reserve Board has been injecting about $5.3 billion to the banking system to provide liquidity. However, these actions are not enough.
