Abstract

This article presents a study on mental development during preadolescent and adolescent period of the youth in the U.S. Several studies attempted to isolate specific adolescent intellectual traits or dealt with their relationship. Of the Primary Mental Abilities tests, the vocabulary test gave the highest correlation with arithmetic problem test. a researcher analyzed fluency for high-school seniors into two factors: word fluency and ideational fluency. On the other hand, a number of investigators compared subjects at various ages by measures which were designed to reveal growth in particular traits.
