Abstract
- The article presents a study conducted to examine whether interleaving paper impregnated with a combination of the antioxidant sodium bromide and calcium carbonate would be able to reduce the degradation of iron-gall ink containing papers. Four types of interleaving papers were studied, pure paper, paper with calcium carbonate and paper with calcium carbonate and sodium bromide. Interleaving papers were prepared by immersing Whatman filter paper No. 1 once, for 5 minutes in a saturated aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide or twice with intermediate drying. A third set was left untreated.
