Abstract

The article focuses on the career of the rock band Grand Funk Railroad. The band achieved its current preeminence with little help from the media and none from the serious rock press. The author considers Grand Funk as the extension of music and early rock as a rebellion. The author asserts that the fragmentation of the rock audience is one symptom of social and political development.
