The article reports on the ability of the presence of increased numbers of regulatory T cells (T_Reg) cells in cancer patients to suppress an effective anti-tumor immune response. Reducing the number of T_Reg cells can improve the response of patients to tumor-based vaccines. The development of autoimmunity is suppressed by the T_Reg cells.
