Abstract

Climate change caused by greenhouse gases is receiving worldwide attention. CO<subscript>2</subscript> (carbon dioxide) emission accounts for 80% of greenhouse gas emissions. The current measures against emission of CO<subscript>2</subscript> are mainly control of emissions, sequestration and fixation, but CO<subscript>2</subscript> emission decreased by only 1.6% in Europe during the past decade. CO<subscript>2</subscript> recovery and reuse may offer new options for the greenhouse gas strategy.CO<subscript>2</subscript> recovery technology such as the amine process is economically and technically feasible for industrial-scale application, and the recovered CO<subscript>2</subscript> can be utilized for energy production, development of new energy resources, agriculture, etc. Recycling of CO<subscript>2</subscript> on a large scale is discussed in this paper.
