The article comments on the distribution and proficiency of bilingualism and bilingual education in Cameroon in 1974. Key issues discussed include the social and political repercussions of the government's language policies, the problematic aspects of research on bilingualism, background information on language and language policies in Cameroon and their effects on the country's educational system, the role of bilingualism in the establishment of bilingual schools and the issues' implications for comparative education and education policy.
