Abstract

The article provides information on British wool grade names. The breed name designates the type or grade of wool only. The four properties of wool include the characteristic of wool clothing which provides warmth to a much greater degree than other fibers, the power of absorption of moisture and the retention of moisture. The characteristics of wool are fineness, handle or the degree of softness, color, length of staple, springiness, crimp, luster, strength, faultiness and style. Many grades follow on where the breed name is used. The applications of British wool are wide and more users will show interest in this commodity.
