Increasing the Enhancement of SERS with Dielectric Microsphere Resonators.

The article demonstrates an additional system gain of more than two orders of magnitude of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) by using a dielectric microsphere resonator to capture and excite the target system. SERS is a technique that can add single-molecule detection capability to rich information provided by Raman spectroscopy. The design has the potential to enable SERS-based single molecule detection systems to become more practical.
