Abstract

The article presents information about a new technology center developed by Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Not long ago, the building was home to aisle upon aisle of mainframe computers providing vital operations for Bell Atlantic Corp. Only a few dozen people came here each day to tend to the humming mainframes, which also provided the building's sole source of heat. Now these once-huge rooms have been chopped up, accented in sorbet colors, and filled with row upon row of shiny new PC's and Macintoshes, flat-screen monitors, and high-end sound systems.
