Abstract

The article discusses the issue on the application of antibiotic prophylaxis before transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) in Great Britain. This paper examines the evidences for and against antibiotic prophylaxis in TOE. The studies conducted show varying contradictory results. However, the evidence points overwhelming in favor for the discouragement on the use antibiotic prophylaxis routinely for TOE.
