Geopolitical Quandary.

The article provides an overview of political trends in Kyrgyzstan as of September 2005. President Kurmanbek Bakiyev suggested the U.S. government consider closing its air base near Bishkek. An increased Russian presence in the region may not compensate financially for the reduced flow of dollars but it would provide security. The region is in a unique position to host to both a U.S. and Russian military bases.
