The article provides a survey that investigates the applicability and relevance of search engines technology among the library users so as to cater more visible library services through Web engines. The competition between electronic and online library services increased with the general Web search engine and with specialized academic search engines. Moreover, the role of online library catalogs as the central source of reference regarding all information available in a library is discussed.
