Abstract

The article reports on the announcement made by the commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission regarding the building by the Westinghouse Company, at government expense, of a plant to supply 60,000 kilowatts to the installations of the commission. The announcement has mentioned an atomic-propelled submarine designer, who is also a rear admiral, to head the project. It has also identified Portsmouth, Ohio, as the possible location of the plant, due to the power supply needs of a gaseous diffusion plant in the area.
