Abstract
- The article reports on the response of the American people to the state of emergency in relation to the eruption of the Second World War. The dangers presented with the war has made the Americans to sanction the appropriation of huge sums of money for the armed forces, along with an increase in taxation. Though it was necessary and natural, some experts thought it was folly for people to think that making the nation secure is merely a matter of spending money.
