Abstract

The article presents the author's views on the concrete implications of paintings by artists. Artists and scientists are fundamentally alike observers who, conscientious and accurate in noting physical facts, study those facts and make abstract use of them in constructing a work of art or a scientific theory. An artist sees and records with acute visual ability and from a fund of physical experience, knowledge, philosophy, and spiritual concept. He is like a reflecting surface which holds images of this expanded world, the new physical facts, the wider horizons as well as the tensions and the illusions of his time. His statements are colored by emotional and psychological responses.
