Abstract
- The article investigates the differences in sociocultural environment perceptions associated with gender in science classrooms in Nigeria. The study was conducted to examine the influence of five aspects of the sociocultural environment in science classes. The subjects used in the study were 707 junior secondary school science students which were randomly drawn from urban and rural areas of four states of Nigeria. The results of the study suggests that students, irrespective of their gender, perceive the sociocultural environment of their classrooms in a more or less similar manner.
