Abstract

The article presents the author's opinions regarding the integration of a social studies unit on China with the curriculum of science at the Brooklyn New School in the U.S. The social studies unit focused on silkworms as an important resource for the Chinese. From a scientific point of view, silkworms can be used as a tool for teaching animal classification and life cycles. According to the article author, classroom activities related to social studies can be designed for science education classes.
